DUB Pies presents – 'THE
PIE SHOP'!!
Our second retail location 'The Pie Shop,' in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn –
is now open and doing a brisk trade – (click this
link for details)
The Pie Shop is even easier to get to than our first store, simply take the
F Train to 15th St/Prospect Park – whichever exit you take you?ll emerge
no more than a block from the corner of Prospect Park West and 16th Street.
This store was the location used for the filming of Paul Auster's movie –
SMOKE – starring Harvey Keitel,William Hurt, Forest Whitaker, etc. (And
we have a few things planned that 'riff' on this cool little piece of pop-culture
iconography – watch this space for developments.)
The Pie Shop is currently open every day from 10am to 8pm but we will be expanding
those hours in the near future and we hope to begin offering home delivery
in the very near future too.
This location will eventually offer the same menu as our first café
– but for now the emphasis is on:
- the pies,
- our ever growing line of baked goods
- memorable espresso-based coffee drinks (in keeping with our NZ/Australian
cultural theme we do not offer filter coffee.)
ART GALLERY - This cafe houses a small art gallery.
Our intention is to work with NYC-based artists who may (or may not) have
some affiliation with the lands Down Under.
In keeping with this we're honored to announce that our inaugural artist is
someone whose work we've admired for many years – (about 26 years actually!)
– Brooklyn-based New Zealand musician/artist Hamish Kilgour (of The
Clean & The Mad Scene - among other projects.)
If you haven't encountered music from The Clean yet – they're one of
those bands we'd recommend you spend some time exploring – they've been
around since 1978 and have a new album planned for this year. To say they
were seminal in the formation of the New Zealand/Flying Nun sound of the 80's
& 90's is not to overstep the mark. Countless bands over the last 3 decades
have cited The Clean as a major influence in their music.
Hamish's art is for sale. We currently have some (unfortunately) low quality
pics of the work on display at this page of our website
. Please email us at
if you have interest in Hamish's work. We'll send you a higher quality photograph
as soon as they are posted to the website.
